Thomas A. Duckenfield III

Thomas A. Duckenfield III is the Chairman and CEO of Quarius Technologies Worldwide, LLC. (QTW).  He formerly served ​as Global Counsel for the company.​

Following in the professional footsteps of his father, who also was an executive and counsel at an energy company (Washington Gas), Mr. Duckenfield oversees the management of the QT Group of Companies.  He has experience ​with all types of renewable energy technologies, including wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and biogas power ​generation, first- and next-generation biofuels and new technologies such as fuel cells, wave power, clean water and agricultural products.


Mr. Duckenfield has additional experience with respect to syndicated loan and debt capital market transactions; the development, financing, sale and acquisition of domestic and international energy projects; and arranging capital ​for new and established energy companies. Mr. Duckenfield has also organized and led several international ​trade missions for US energy companies to Africa, Europe and Southeast Asia.


As a partner at several law firms, Mr. Duckenfield has represented a wide range of clients including Fortune ​500 companies, municipalities, minority and women-owned companies in project finance, export compliance, international commercial contracts, commercial litigation, government procurement, government relations and ​corporate social responsibility matters.


Mr. Duckenfield served as Assistant to the General Counsel in the U.S. Army General Counsel’s Honors Program in the Pentagon, where he provided legal advice at the Secretary and three-star general level on information technology; munitions production; intellectual property; utilization of small and minority-owned businesses; outsourcing and alternative dispute resolution.


Licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, New York, Virginia and England & Wales, he received an A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. ​
